Nakashima complex, a National Historic Landmark and included on the World Monument Fund Watch List, features architecturally significant and innovative structures built by George Nakashima, a leader in 20th century American design and the American studio craft movement. There are 14 buildings on the property. They combine the International style and Modernist influences with Japanese carpentry traditions.

Legacy Tour with Mira Nakashima
An intimate tour with Mira Nakashima, daughter and successor of George Nakashima. Hear first-hand from Mira the story of her own career and life, what it was like to work with George, and how she is continuing the Nakashima legacy today.
Tours are two hours in length. Stops included are the Showroom, Finishing Room, Chair Shop, Conoid Studio, Arts Building and Cloisters, Pool House, Pole Barn, Lumber Shed, Reception House, and Family House.
$150 per person. Offered select Saturday mornings.
Guided Tours
Our in-depth tour of the New Hope campus and a full exploration of George Nakashima’s life and craft. Learn about George Nakashima’s full career in architecture and woodworking, his family history, and how we continue his legacy today.

$75 per person, $50 for students. Offered Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
Self-Guided Tours
Gain an introduction to George Nakashima’s work and explore the New Hope campus at your own pace.
This one-hour time slot includes admission into three of George’s experimental buildings: The Showroom, the Conoid Studio, and the Arts Building. Docents are stationed in each building to provide context and answer questions.
$25 per person, $15 for students. Offered select Saturday afternoons.
Group Tours
The Nakashima Foundation also offers our two-hour guided tour to private groups. Tours are scheduled during the week (Tuesday – Thursday). Group size is limited to 20 individuals, and tours can be scheduled April – November.

TOUR GUIDELINES
We look forward to welcoming you! Access to our campus is only open to visitors with tour registrations purchased in advance.
Please wear comfortable and easy-to-remove footwear, as the tour includes an outdoor walk of ¾ mile on uneven terrain and grassy hills. We ask that shoes be removed before entering select buildings.
Although we allow outdoor photography for personal use on the property, we ask that you refrain from photography or video recording while inside.
Children must be 12 years and older and accompanied by an adult. All children must have a tour registration.
Guided tours are held rain-or-shine, no refunds.
DIRECTIONS
The George Nakashima Woodworkers Complex is located at 1847 Aquetong Road, New Hope, PA 18938.
We are located in historic Bucks County, Pennsylvania about two miles from downtown New Hope, just above the Delaware River. Downtown New Hope is a quaint, thriving small town with numerous galleries, restaurants, and bed and breakfasts.
Parking is accessible from the northwest entrance off of Aquetong Road, marked by our mailbox (#1847) and wooden signpost.
From Philadelphia
Take 95 N towards Trenton. Take Exit 10 to New Hope. Follow Taylorsville Road to PA 32 N, and turn left onto Aquetong Road.
From New York City
Take 95 S towards NJ-18 N. Take Exit 9, and get on I-295 N in Lawrence Township from US-1 S. Follow I-295 N to Taylorsville Rd in Lower Makefield Township. Take the exit toward I-95/Philadelphia from I-295 N. Continue on Taylorsville Rd to PA 32 N, and then turn onto Aquetong Road.
Public Transportation
From New York City, the Northeast Corridor or Northeast Regional rail can be taken to Trenton or Hamilton.
From Center City Philadelphia, the Regional Rail can be taken to Doylestown, PA.
Taxi and ride share options are available to get to the George Nakashima Woodworkers Complex.
