Third Tools for Peace workshop: Compassionate Listening

NOW FULL

The Nakashima Foundation for Peace is continuing with its initiative for the community: Tools for Peace. The curriculum is a series of workshops to share skills in coping during these challenging – and evolutionary – times.

Sunday, June 2, 3:30 – 5:30 pm

in the Arts Building on the Nakashima compound

Compassionate Listening is a peacemaking tool for dialogue on difficult issues such as the violence in Israel-Gaza, Ukraine, Africa, and in U.S. Compassionate Listening is a type of deep listening to allow us to reflect on our emotional response to the trauma of violence, our role in holding space for our children or grandchildren who are anxious, concerned and angry about the violence and division the surrounds us all. In this mini-workshop, participants will be introduced to the structure of Compassionate Listening, practice it in small groups, and learn together how this important tool can be used in our daily interactions with colleagues, family and friends with whom we disagree.

The workshop will be led by Barbara Simmons
Board Member of the Nakashima Foundation for Peace and Director Emerita of the Bucks County Peace Center.
