Welcoming New Faces

In June 2019, we welcomed Zoriana Siokalo as our second employee dedicated solely to our foundation. We are excited she has joined us to focus on grants administration, writing, and research.

Zoriana has added a cheerful note to our guided tours, which she has accompanied for nearly thirty years. By volunteering to host the Arts Building on Saturday afternoons, she has enabled us to open its doors to the public on a weekly basis while expanding its exhibitions.

An experienced cultural program director, Zoriana brings a history of leadership roles in significant cultural and educational institutions, including the Smithsonian and our local Michener Art Museum where she led the Education and Public Programs Department for 28 years while securing bids for museum accreditation and numerous grants.

Zoriana received her BA in Anthropology/Museum Training from Rutgers University and MA in Anthropology/Museum Studies from George Washington University.

On April 2018 David B. Long joined us as our first employee solely dedicated to the Nakashima Foundation for Peace.

Not a complete stranger, Dave was the catalyst for the Studio’s Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission roadside historical marker that was dedicated in 2010. He has a MPA from Cornell University and a MLIS from Rutgers University.

Dave helps the Foundation part-time with furniture authentications, tours, fundraising, and organizing the on-site archival collections among a host of other invaluable tasks. He currently lives in downtown Trenton, NJ with his wife Trish, their son Merritt, and their dog Daisy.
