“Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony. I should like this whole place to be called ‘Peace,’ and that peace, actual peace should reign there, not only between the occupants but with the whole of Auroville, present and future.”

A Meditation in 2009 to Commemorate the 41st Year of Auroville’s Founding
The community decided to host a meditation around the Sacred Peace Table in the foundation of the soon-to-be-built Hall of Peace at the Unity Pavilion. As dawn broke and mist shrouded the site in mystery, Aurovillians gathered to offer silent prayers for peace.
