The Documentary

“George Nakashima, Woodworker”

I am thrilled to announce that the long-awaited documentary about Uncle George is now completed. It is because of your generous contributions that it was possible to accomplish this significant undertaking.

I think you will find in this two-hour feature a depth of understanding that wasn’t previously available.

Next Steps: Distribution

Film Festivals are the most common route to distribution as they offer major recognition of the work, widening the potential audience. So far, the film has been entered into Tribeca, Full Frame Documentary, CAAMFest, Independent Film Festival Boston, Minneapolis St. Paul International, and LA Asian Pacific with more to come.

The ideal concept for distribution is a non-exclusive deal with a major streaming service. Among other goals, I wish to retain rights to have public screenings at key cities around the country, especially in the Bucks County region, Philadelphia, Seattle, Portland, New York, and my home state of West Virginia.

Each festival has different rules, but many will only consider entries that give them the premiere screening. Once the film completes its premiere(s), I will be open to send the promised Blu-Ray copies and additional gifts—only a small token of gratitude felt for your belief in the project—to those who so generously supported the development process.
